Glass-fibre mesh on a livestock-barn floor: light enough to place by hand, and free of the corrosion that manure, urine and cleaning chemicals cause in steel.

This livestock-barn floor was reinforced with glass-fibre mesh from Fibr Factory, in place of steel. The net sits on spacers over the membrane, ready for the pour, beside the shed and the silo.

A barn floor lives with manure, urine and ammonia, and with the acids from silage and cleaning. Where the cover is thin or the slab cracks, those chemicals reach the steel. Steel rusts, loses section and stains the concrete. Glass fibre does not corrode, so the reinforcement stays sound for longer.

The mesh is light enough to roll out by hand across a large barn slab. Crews line it up along the walls and the passages without dragging a heavy steel grid over the membrane.

Spacers keep the net at the right height in the slab. Before the pour you can walk the mesh, check the overlaps and see that the whole floor is covered.

On a livestock floor the case for Fibr is chemical. Manure, urine and cleaning agents keep attacking steel long after the slab has dried. A mesh that does not corrode gives that attack nothing to consume.

Corrosion-free. Chemical-resistant. Built for the barn floor.
